5 Ways to Organise a Small Home Office

A small desk gets messy fast, and most of the mess is cable, not clutter.

1. Get the label printer off the desk entirely — a wall or shelf mount frees a surprising amount of surface area.

2. Route cables behind, not across, whatever you’re using the desk for. A single cable channel does more than three organisers.

3. Vertical storage beats horizontal storage on a small footprint — anything that can stand on its edge should.

4. Group by task, not by object. Keep everything for one job in one place instead of sorting by shape or size.

5. Leave one drawer or tray completely empty. It becomes the place things land before they get put away properly, instead of piling on the desk.
